Spot on as normal. And I talked to a buddy a few days ago about getting Bishop. Smith only plays well when the season is lost, and Domingue is a good backup in my mind. I would love to move the surplus for Shatty or Barrie.

I'm glad we didn't get in on Lucic or Backes or any of those players who are getting huge dollars. Sucks that we missed on Okposo, but I'm very curious to see what moves we do indeed make...

I always agree when you talk about other teams, but your analysis of the coyotes always baffles me.
1) Vermette is a bad top six center, but a spectacular bottom six center, which is what the team needs. Jetting him would be stupid, unless gaudet or dauphin or macinnis are ahead of schedule (which I don't think they are)

2) I LOVE our offensive prospects, but almost none of them are top line elite players. Maybe in EA sports they all hit max potential, and there is no doubt they are all terrific second line, or complementary top line players but none are guaranteed stars of a top contending line. Only strome has the potential to be, and even then it's a stretch. So to say we will be the highest scoring offense is just silly. ill be even more bold and say, sell high on duclair. He's fast and exciting, but anyone projecting him as a top line winger is mistaken. I guarantee there's a GM that will overvalue him, this improving AZ.

3) connauton, tinordi, and dahlbeck all had rough years mainly because they were thrust in to too many minutes on a bad team. Call it the "justin Schultz" effect where their advanced stats look terrible, but would look vastly different if deployed better. If you can get any or all on cheap deals and stash then in the AHL, you do it I a heartbeat and let them grow. Maybe 2 out of 3 are tapped out and never progress, but our defensive depth is terrible and letting them take one step back in their career in hopes for 2 steps forward is spectacular. Do you really think the coyotes have 7 better defenseman than those three to play in the AHL?

Despite all my critiques, thank you for keeping the dialogue open on the coyotes. While you may be facetious in your statement on this being the best coyotes commentary, as someone that reads them all, I will gladly confirm that it, indeed, is.

Agreed, he's the most overrated GM in hockey.

It's clear they need a better goalie if they want to be any good.

Vermette would be one of the worst 3Cs in the NHL. My thoughts are that if you want to win, you need to have three #1 quality Cs in your lineup. The top six, bottom six is dead. It's now top 9. Vermette is garbage and honestly I think a bad fourth line player and sub-replacement. Here is his hero chart, brought to you by Wes Craven.

I disagree about Duclair. His shooting percentage was very high, so his totals are wonky, but he was a possession driver on a bad team as a rookie. I think he has first line allstar potential. Domi has the potential to be a top ten scorer. If Dvorak wasn't a second-round pick, people would be drooling over him. He might not make it, but there's a chance he's elite. As for Strome, I think he'll be a hall of famer. Of course, no guarantees, but you're talking Edmonton, Toronto and Buffalo as the only teams close to this kind of forward depth 23 or younger.

This is your best point. And I think you may be right. They still suck, but as depth guys, sure, why not.

Hey man, appreciate the kind words. ( I'll answer your points above.) No one needs to agree with me to enjoy my articles and if they do, bonus. Plus, if people disagree, sometimes they bring me around stuff I'm missing.

Why? Say what you will, but no one cares about the Coyotes and he still manages a lot of hits. Anyone gravitating to the Stars blog? Ever?

Proof positive you can't win with the clowns on the internet. Some are good, most are driven insane by the anonymity. What can you do?

One of the worst calls I've seen on this site, James Tanner calling Yzerman one of the worst GMs in the NHL. Just horrible.
